The present article deals with the author's experience in learning \LaTeX independently and disseminating the knowledge acquired through one week structured course to research scholars in a University system.

Mr. Venugopal is a stenographer by profession. He has been using computers since the two floppy PC stage. A former lover of WordPerfect, his first encounter with TeX/LaTeX was in the year 2000. At present exploring various packages, experimenting with Omega, MetaPost and MetaFont and teaching and/or explaining advantages of TeX/LaTeX over wordprocessors are his hobbies.
