[yandytex] Y&Y -> TUG Lucida license upgrade

Hi Jochen,

    I remember the Y&Y license allowed this as long as the fonts were not
    embedded 100%. Can someone clarify/confirm this?

Well, I cannot give absolute legal confirmation, but the msg Blenda sent
you clearly states that it is ok for individuals to post pdf's with
subsetted fonts of their own articles on their own web site. So I think
you're safe to do that as a Y&Y customer.

    The question is: who would be enforcing Y&Y's license now;

I don't know the details of Y&Y's dissolution. She donated Y&Y's
physical machines and the Y&Y-created software and files on them to TUG.
We didn't talk about licensing rights. (I would not want TUG to be in
the position of having to enforce Y&Y's license, anyway.)

The rights to the Lucida fonts themselves remain with B&H, of course,
and they can (and do) enforce the meaningful restrictions.

If you have other questions, I'll try to answer, or talk with Chuck
and/or Blenda about them.

Best,
karl
