I don't think it is possible, at least not without conversion of the
figures into a format that Y&Y can handle (mainly eps and tiff). As Don
Robinson pointed out, the entire document can be converted into PDF by
using Adobe Acrobat (and certain other programs), but that is a different
question.

Karl Berry mentioned pdflatex, which can incorporate pdf figures and
generated PDF, not DVI. That is not part of the standard Y&Y
distribution. All the comments I ever saw from Y&Y were that Acrobat
produces the best PDF, so why not use it?

Don mentioned the "epsfig" package. That still works, but the usual advice
is to use the "graphicx" package, which is part of base LaTeX and includes
all the features of epsfig and more.

For Sue, the best option might be to try to generate EPS or TIFF figures
rather than PDF in the first place. Then, they can be incorporated easily
into Y&Y TeX documents. Still, EPS figures, even within a TeX document,
will only print or display on a Postscript device.

I hope that helps.
