David,

Thanks a lot for your help. The method worked!

As you advised I installed ATM Light 4.1. For a while I thought it had no
effect, but I forgot about rebooting the machine after installation. Now if
I print to Acrobat Distiller with "Print to file" and "Use DVIPSONE" turned
on, I get a correctly looking PS file, which then the distiller is able to
convert to a legitimate PDF. So far I didn't notice any adverse effects of
ATM Light 4.1 in Windows 2000 Pro.

Curiously, if I select one of the PS printers as destination with "Print to
file" and "Use DVIPSONE" turned on, I am still getting the "permission
denied" error for PS file creation, which really makes no sense, as there
are no write protections in that directory. But I really don't care about it
if I have another setting that works.

Thanks a bunch!!!

Radek
