There is a good chance that this binary junk is either an embedded
TIFF preview or an embedded WMF preview. There is a rather easy
way of stripping this "cruft" out with a perl script.
I would need to see an example.
Penny, If you would send me (tkacvins at cox.net) such a file, I can
tell you for sure if that is an embedded preview and can tell you
the perl code I use to strip such previews out of an EPS file.
