You don't mention if this scrunching problem is specific to DVIWindow
previewing or if it also turns up on paper. I'll assume only on-screen
...

In c:\yandy\dvipsone\doc I find a file called news.txt, which has an
entry about having `Favor Position' turned on or off -- the document
says it's in the `Fonts' menu -- but in more recent versions it's been
moved to `Special'. Anyways, perhaps you could do a test to see if
having this option switched on -- or off -- makes a difference to your
screen display.

And browse through the other information in the file, in case anything
else strikes you as being likely.

There's another file in ..\doc, readme.txt, which has an `ancient'
title line, referring back to v.1.2 (1995) of Y&YTeX! However, some
parts of a program are never adjusted so maybe this is one of them
...

In any event scrolling down through it, I find an entry for a problem
entitled `Incorrect letter sizing and spacing', which has to do with
one's graphics display board. Further down, there's an entry for `Bad
spacing and wrap around with monospaced fonts', but your jpeg sample
doesn't seem to be showing such fonts, so this one pointer probably
doesn't apply to your case.

And finally, if any of the above works -- pu-leeze post a note to
techsupport about what it was!

Thanks.

Ch.
