Hyperref Package Question

Two thoughts:

The link to a "ref" apparently has something to do with WHERE the label
comes -- I have sometimes found that putting it as the last item in a
"figure" section (i.e., after the figure and, __more_importantly__, after
the caption) seems to help.

Secondly, if a section or theorem or whatever, starts at the top of a new
page and the \ref is taking you back to the previous page, it sometimes
helps to put in a "\pagebreak", even if you don't physically need it.  Then
the \label is emphatically on the right page, and should work...

I'm sure there is some scientific explanation for both of these (which may
even be linked), but as workarounds  they sometimes help, even if I don't
know why!
