FWD: Gothic font

I have two queries.

Firstly I would like to use the Gothic (old german) font. I have
tried
\mathfrak which someone suggested but that seems to produce
Courier. Maybe I
need to load another font package?

Secondly I am about to purchase a new machine which will have
Windows XP.
Will the version I am using under Windows 98 still be OK?
