since i maintain rotating, i've been sitting here like a lemon trying
to think what's wrong with it.

the only thing wrong with epsfig, in a properly installed system, is
the confusion between the latex209 version and the latex2e graphics
package version.

except bundled rotated whole-page floats.  and a few other things,
supplied by other packages.

which doesn't help work out what's wrong.  the disc on my xp machine
with y&y just blew up, and my time's completely taken up with being
100% of windows support here at a time when we're being treated (ahem)
to a nice new virus.

so i've to reinstall xp on my machine, reinstall y&y (i have a new
disc) and to do yet more thinking about the problem before i can hope
to find an answer.
