[XeTeX] using font pairs (probably a fontspec question...)

Hi all,

a question about using multiple fonts. I have several fonts that cover
the vastness of unicode *as a set* -- Han Nom A + Han Nom B, Code 2000 +
2001 + 2002, etc. -- which essentially need to be used in conjunction
with each other when writing documents that use characters from
different (vast) unicode blocks while visually using the same "font". Is
there a way to tell fontspec to consider certain collections of fonts
fixed sets, when you know certain fonts were specifically designed as
one font, split up over several separate files?

I'd also like to stress the "knowing" bit: I know that Han Nom A and B
form a one font, in two files. Similarly, I know that Code2000, 2001 and
2002 form one font, in three files. I'm not looking for general font
linking (there are pros and cons to general font linking; it's okay if
you can predict what will happen, and it's stupid when you don't know
the fonts you're using so you can't predict which font will catch which
glyph). In this case, I know the fonts cannot clash, because they were
specifically designed that way, so I need some way to tell fontspec "do
not look in just ..., but if it's not in there, look in ... because
that's where it's *supposed* to be by design".

Is this possible?
