Hi Sreenivasa:
I had a similar problem with Syriac ... Mac has no native keyboard or
support for scripting it (although Mellel will script it for the most
part, and of course, XeTeX has no problem, only the source is illegible
unless I use Mellel to prepare it).
I think Kannada, etc., will have better support, but you'll have to
search online for an appropriate keyboard (or maybe some others who
typeset Kannada on Mac have something ready that you can obtain?)
