Where does XeTeX expect to find fonts, and what overrides are available
(under Linux)? (environment variables, explicit paths,...)
It appears that it's expecting to find fonts in /usr/share/fonts, and at
least on our systems, that dir can only be modified by root. That may be
a result of overly zealous security, or it may be the standard way things
are set up, I'm not sure; but it does mean that we need to go to the
administrator to add fonts, which is not the way I'd like it.
So if there's some way to tell XeLaTeX to look for fonts in a directory
that we all have access to (we have one, in a non-standard location), that
would be helpful.
