Hi all again.

I've made some progresses: it turned out that converting the pfb files
to otf -- while also changing the name just to be sure -- was a
winning move. Although I think this is going to violate some license
conditions :) so I'll just go and read the sheets and maybe look for
an opentype version of Helvetica Neue.
