Excellent idea (and list)!
Alan Hoenig recently mentioned the Cardo Font in a missive:
http://scholarsfonts.net/cardofnt.html
Bembo clone, but sadly no italic yet.
Also there's the mnsymbol font to go with the free copy of MinionPro
from AR:
http://www.hft.ei.tum.de/mz/MnSymbol10.otf
Free UCS Outline Fonts:
http://www.nongnu.org/freefont/
and of course there're the various Polish fonts, Antykwa Torunska &c.
There're a couple of free sample OpenType fonts which people may find
of use:
FontFont gives away URWGroteskTOT-ExtLigExtWid.otf
http://www.fontfont.com/
Elsner & Flake give away AlternateGothicEFOP-NoTwo.otf
http://www.elsner-flake.com/
Fonthaus provides Metro Sans Light
http://www.fonthaus.com/specials/type.cfm
all sans serif though.
The FontLab folks used to have some free samples, but I don't see
them available anymore.
And of course there're lots of free fonts of the 1,001 fonts on a CD-
ROM ilk, but they're probably not worth mentioning here.
