Did you use the package graphics or graphicx? The syntax [options]
works only with the latter. It's also possible the specific options
you're looking for aren't supported by the driver
/Library/teTeX/share/texmf.local/tex/xetex/xetex.def

I can't understand what you mean. What's the Quartz generated PDF? Why
run it through gs?

Sorry, I got lost between the three threads that you launched
simultaneously, "Small Caps with Lucida Bright", "True Type vs Type 1"
and "Multiple fonts with the same name", which were all dealing more or
less with the same problem (Lucida Bright from Office 2004 with XeTeX),
sometimes with a message in a thread apparently answering, on closer
scrutiny, a response received in another of the three threads. Also,
the thread entitled "Small Caps with Lucida Bright" finished with a
message starting with "I discovered the solution to my own problem", so
I thought all was over at this point.

In any case, regarding the small caps issue, the result of the test you
carried:

> I just found out that my Lucida Bright came with Office 2004. I tried

just tells the answer: there are no small caps in this font, so you
can't use them.
