What is the error message?
You may have to configure it. I don't remember exactly what
I did, but check options->configure texmaker and see if the values are ok.
I am using texlive and it works fine. What tex distribution do you use?
You have click on the arrow pointing to the right, just before pdflatex, in
the menu bar for compilation.
