[Tugindia] lambda not found

I seem to have a curious problem that I am not able to figure out. I
have texlive-omega installed on my system. But I cannot get the 'lambda'
command to compile my .tex files. A search in the web does not seem to
give me a clue. This happened when I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
