\usepackage{subeqn} in the preamble and then wrap your equations 
with the subequations environment, like

\begin{subequations}

your equations go here

\end{subequations}

And since you seem to be part of Kurukshetra Univ and hence educated 
enough to understand general etiquette related to mailing to a 
list, I would earnestly request you to think about the following:

1. Why you have appended the day's digest to your query which is
   totally unrelated to your question?  You might remember that
   all the subscribers have already received the mails you
   have appended.

2. Why not open up a new thread with a new subject line so that
   the archives become meaningful?
