Actually, I have been using Malayalam LaTeX for quite some time. I could
always just install the malayalam-0.8 package and use pdflatex. I have
always been using pdflatex only. This problem arose when I installed
Debian Etch on these machines and tried to use Malayalam LaTeX. I think,
as Swami Pallasena wrote, the problem may be due to the change in the
directory structure.
