[Tugindia] footnote, index

Hi,

The footnote command does not seem to work from the intertext command of
the align environment.  Similarly, it does not seem to work from the table
and tabular environments also.
Does anyone know why this happens?

I have a similar problem with the index package also.  The command
"\proofmode true" shows the index entries on the margins.  But the
indexing done within the intertext command of the align environment does
not show up on the margin.
