Hyperref.sty doesn't do anything with thread.  You have to write your own
output routines to provide article threads in PDF.  There are two
primitives available in pdfTeX which you can make use of:  (i) \pdfthread 
and (ii) \pdfthreadmargin. It is a non-trivial task. :(
