There is no doubt that Kile is the most advanced Latex editor on any 
operating system.  However, take a look at Texmaker 
(http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/index.html), which can be used on 
Windows, Linux and OSX.  Kile is based on Texmaker (or its predecessor). 
Texmaker requires Qt3; but otherwise does not require all of the KDE 
overhead.
