[Tugindia] Including JPEG file in TeX file

Hi 

I want to include the JPEG file in TeX file such that when I compile the TeX file it should be compatible for commands 

> latex sample.tex
> pdflatex sample.tex

I can convert the jpg file eps with convert utility but eps is not recognised by pdflatex.
Also converting jpg to pdf is not useful for latex. 

What is the common format for both of these commands. I am working on RedHat Linux 9
