[Tugindia] skretch characters in LaTeX2e

Dear all,

To stretch a character both vertically and
horizontically i tried the below mentioned commmands:

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{graphicx}

\begin{document}

\title{Stretch Characters in \LaTeX2e}
\author{njn}
\maketitle

\resizebox{3cm}{1cm}{s}

\scalebox{3}{s}

\end{document}

But this is not working. Kindly help me out how to
stretch a character in Latex2e.
