Excellent.

Venkat> I would like to have the source so that I can modify it.

It's all available in the TUGIndia site. See:

 http://www.tug.org.in/tutorial/src/

Venkat> I will post the first version of the first chapter by the
    Venkat> last week of December.

Look forward to seeing it.

Venkat> I do appreciate the work put in by TUG India. I just feel
Venkat> that things could be better in this regard and I think I

Sure and your feelings are legitimate, TUGIndia's efforts were just
the starting point. There was the question of who will break the ice,
that we did. Now the user community can surely make it better and
better and that is one of the many advantages of free software and
free documentation.

Venkat> I have been using TEX from 1988 and I think I should give

You need not be a developer to write documentation, but you should be
an informed user.

Venkat> Also, my knowledge of TEX/LATEX is purely functional. My
Venkat> solutions are not going to be elegant like some of the
    Venkat> experts.

None of us are experts, but we try our bit to make life easier for our
fellow humans.

Venkat> This is one area I can contribute. I am not an expert in
Venkat> programming either. I have no intention of going into the
    Venkat> business of tex

Please dont have any qualms about business, it is one of the many
decent human activities, probably one of the most difficult activities
one can venture in one's life.
