Matthias,,TLU should automatically use an archived mirror for updating MacTeX 2018. If it's not using this one,ftp://ftp.tug.org/historic/systems/texlive/2018/tlnet-final/please send me the log output from TLU's log window. Something else might be going on, but I haven't tested on El Capitan in quite some time.thanks,AdamOn Jan 25, 2022, at 7:34 AM, Richard Koch <koch at uoregon.edu> wrote:TeX Live only supports updating the latest version of TeX. You can install MacTeX-2018, but you can only update it manually yourself. An alternative is to install the latest MacTeX using the Unix install script. This will give you the x86_64-darwinlegacy binaries, which will run on your machine, and the latest packages, and then TeX Live Utility can update the distribution.
For an explanation, go tohttps://tug.org/mactexand read the linked page on using a Unix install script.Richard Kochkoch at uoregon.eduPS: After writing this, I see it is a question to the TeX Live Utility mailing list. Adam Maxwell may give a more definitive answer! On Jan 25, 2022, at 12:37 AM, Matthias Wischer <matthias_wischer at gmx.de> wrote:Hi, I’ve got a problem with mit TeX-Distribution and I hope that you can help me. After updating my Mac my Tex does not run properly. When I want to set the text I get errors in several packages. I updated to OSX El Capitan (10.11.6) so I had to reinstall my TeX.
I only can use MacTex 2018. The installation was ok. I use TexLiveUtility 1.52. I tried to re-install those packages but I get an error that the version could not be determined. I tried other repositories but the same error. I think I need an repository which
supports my ‚old‘ TeX distribution? Could you please help me? Thanks and greets from Germany Matthias
