Just did that, but it doesn't seem to work: the alert mentions problems only with the network connection or the TeX Live server; the log does point to a missing /usr/texbin/kpsewhich, but users aren't supposed to look at the log, are they?

This on Beta OS X 10.11.1 (15B30a). Probably irrelevant here, but just in case: following Karl Berry's message a few days ago on the MacTeX list, I installed the latest tlmgr from tlcritical (via Alt-Actions > Install TeX Live Manager From Critical Repository).

Not relevant here, but since we're at it: another way to access the same path specification dialog is to just type a "/" when faced with the panel. I don't recall this written anywhere in Apple's doc; I think it was mentioned to me first by Herb Schulz some time ago on the MacTeX list.
