I cannot comment because

1) I never understood what gccpp was used for, and I omit it as per your instructions

2) I don't know what "GC-throw-bad-alloc" does

Are you saying that this configure step would automatically switch to gc 7.6.0 and omit
gccpp?

Sorry to be so dense about .configure!
