OK the Perl that did not work is:

$ perl -v

This is perl, v5.8.4 built for i86pc-solaris-64int
(with 32 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

However, I think even for newer versions of Perl like

$ perl -v

This is perl 5, version 22, subversion 0 (v5.22.0) built for
i86pc-solaris-thread-multi-64

should be able to say on which input line xindy has found something offending.
