Debian Lenny = stable has libpoppler.so.3
Debian Testing has libpoppler.so.4
Ubuntu probably has libpoppler.so.4
OpenSuSE (what I found from the web pages):
10.3: libpoppler 0.5.4, I guess that is .so.2 but I am not sure
11.0: libpoppler 0.8, so that should be libpoppler.so.3
11.1: libpoppler 0.10 so that should be libpoppler.so.4 (yes it is)

Puhhh, I am not sure. Most newer released versions ship .so.4, and TL
will be released who knows when, but I guess not before september. So if
we ship .so.3 libs for the next year it might be problematic.
