I'll see if I can get xdvipdfmx to run now.
I don't have the thread from last year, but the concerns about the non-standard location for fc were raised at that time and someone responded that it shouldn't matter where the fc libs were during the build. That's out of my league, but that's what I seem to remember.
back soon with results on xdvipdfmx.
