i built libsigsegv-2.5 on FreeBSD 6.2, and the build went flawlessly:

wget http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/libsigsegv/libsigsegv-2.5.tar.gz
tar xfz libsigsegv-2.5.tar.gz 
cd libsigsegv-2.5
./configure && make && make check

also the ports include libsigsegv which comes with the static library
(libsigsegv.a), which is what we need.

which version of freebsd do you have? could you send me your build logs?
