[texworks] pdf preview hangs if pdfcomments are visible

Unfortunately, I don't have a Mac to test this with. On Linux,
everything seems to work fine with the following minimum example:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{pdfcomment}
\begin{document}
\pdfcomment{Test}
\end{document}
*) Does this minimal example cause the hang for you?
*) In your tests, does the hang occur as soon as any part of the page
becomes visible (even if the annotation itself is not yet on screen)?
*) In your tests, which page layout (continuous or single page, zoom to
width/zoom to page/... did you use)?
