[texworks] Help

Hi

I recently downloaded Texworks, but I can't seem to typeset anything; I hope you can help me. I keep getting an error message:

initexmf.exe: No formats.ini exists.
I can't find the default format file!
texify: pdflatex failed for some reason (see log file).

I have no idea how to fix this, or even what it mean. Can you help me?
