Not being a mathematician, I didn't think of this when I wrote my previous 
post arguing for XeTeX.  So maybe we have to guide users toward LaTeX if 
they want math (for a while, anyway) and toward XeTeX if they are users of 
non-western European languages and not concerned with math.
