Back on Bruno's note from Sep 4:

    the pdfTeX manual (in TeX Live 2008) dates back to January 2007 and
    doesn't say anything about SyncTeX.

I finally got some info about this.

Thanh says he has a list of things to update in the pdftex manual, but
(of course) he hasn't had time to do it yet.  No actual changes were
made to the manual between TL'07 and '08, very unfortunately.  Hence it
is the same.
