[texhax] Centering "framed box" between two columns

I do believe Uwe was asking for a screenshot of how it looks in MS Word, so
we know exactly what you are looking for.
I am imagining it is something like this but I may be wrong:

Column one | Column two
text flows | text also
around ----------- flows
a box | TEXT | around
that | BOX | this
has ----------- box of
author info | text with
or other | info about
metadata. | the piece.
Of course, for the purposes of my rough example, disregard the poor
justification [(La)TeX can do a better job of it than me!] and column/box
separator lines I added for clarity. You may or may not want these lines in
your articles. All the more reason that it would be good to see an image of
what you are trying to re-create in TeX. :-)
