It seems the progress reports are always sent to stderr now, instead of
stdout. I'll check further and adjust the doc somehow. Thanks for the report.
dvips -o '|lpr' test.dvi
is any different from
dvips -o - test.dvi | lpr
There's no meaningful difference that I can think of. -k
