Hi Kathy,

    Can you tell me what lines of this ilk mean in a log file (run with
    \tracingall)?
    % t=69.75652 plus 5.0 plus 1.0fil g=650.43 b=0 p=-10000 c=-10000#

Knuth explains it in detail in Chapter 15 of the TeXbook.
In short, it records that a potential breakpoint was added to the main
vertical list, whose height is the t value (with given stretch and
shrink).  The g is the goal for the page (\pagegoal), b the badness,
p the penalty, and c the cost of breaking at this point.
