Is there a reason you can't go directly to .pdf from Word using one of the free conversion programs?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
should make this conversion trivial.
If you really need for the document to be a .tex file first you'll need to:
- perform the conversion --- the free rtf2latex may work for you: http://sourceforge.net/projects/rtf2latex2e/ (save the file as a .rtf out of Word) --- if not, try the commercial word2tex: http://word2tex.com/
- install a LaTeX installation if you don't have one already --- https://www.tug.org/begin.html (an alternative way to do this would be to install LyX, which you may find of use: http://www.lyx.org
- then you'll need to open up the .tex file in an editor or integrated shell such as TeXworks:
https://www.tug.org/texworks/
and ``typeset'' the document using pdflatex to get a .pdf
Please let us know if you need further assistance or information.
