[texhax] Hyphenation questions

Thanks to all for the answers on my first question.

Not being familiar with all the macro names in plain.tex, I didn't know 
about \showhyphens{}.  Ditto for the exceptions list on CTAN.orgcom.

I'd still like to understand what the definition of a duplicate 
hyphenation pattern is, other than "that which causes TeX to issue a 
particular error message".
