Mathpazo uses URW Palatino for text and Computer Modern for math
symbols.

The OTF version of URW Palatino is TeX Gyre Pagella. It was designed
as a set of Type 1 fonts and converted to OTF. Math is not supported
yet, but one can load mathpazo before.

FPL Neu was originally planned as a replacement for the URW clone of
Palatino. But development was stopped when TeX Gyre Pagella came up.
However, FPL Neu provides real small caps and old style figures which
can be used with mathpazo.

Please apologize if this adds to the confusion.

Regards,
  Reinhard

Microsoft isn't the answer. Microsoft is the question, and the answer is NO.
