Define your own footline, e.g.:

          insertlogo & 
          \hfill\insertshortauthor\hfill\phantom{.} & 

You can build anything you like within the template definition, so you
don't need to use tabularx, but could do something simple like


This can all be quite fiddly, (hence the 0.98\textwidth), but you get
the idea?
