I believe TeXLive 2009 will be released more or less soon; and, as far  
as I know, it will be ---unlike TL 2008--- a regular Debian package. I  
would recommend waiting for it.

Meanwhile, if you need a particular package you can look for it in

http://www.tug.org/ctan.html
