It was hard to tell in the example you attached,
so I re-formulated it as :

> ( a_1 \rightarrow P_1 \mid \ldots \mid a_n \rightarrow P_n)
> $$
> $$
> ( a_1 \to P_1 \mid \ldots \mid a_n \to P_n)

Using Acrobat Reader at maximum zoom, I could detect no visual difference.
