[texhax] changing chapter

dear list,

I'm about to finish a report and I want to change the positon of the 
chapter-headlines.
the default is a large gap between the page and the headline while I want 
the headline to start without this gap.
It shouldn't be that complicated but I couldn't find anything useful by a 
google-search.

secondly I want to suppress a pagenumer on the first page of each chapter.

any advice would be great,
