I'm trying to set up powerdot:

I've managed to set it up part way. I found that I needed xkeyval and
geometry. So I got the latest versions of those from CTAN

and added them to my path:

setenv TEXINPUTS /home/strawberry/toms/tools/powerdot/distrib/run:/home/strawberry/toms/tools/xkeyval/xkeyval/run:/home/strawberry/toms/tools/geometry/geometry:

So far so good. But when I run latex:

latex powerdot-example1.tex

it fails:

This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (Web2C 7.3.1)
LaTeX2e <1998/12/01> patch level 1
Babel <v3.6x> and hyphenation patterns for american, french, german, ngerman, n

See the xkeyval package documentation for explanation.
Type H <return> for immediate help.

I don't see what to do next. Can you help?
