[texhax] Printing section numbers in the margin in LaTeX

Hi,

A couple of years ago I produced an essay that had section numbers in  
the margin, using some code I found on the internet. Here's a  
demonstration of what it looked like:

Now I can't find my original tex source or the page where I found the  
code. Could anybody help me recreate the effect of section numbers in  
the margin?
