[texhax] verbatim in footnote

Hi:

I'd like to put a verbatim or verb inside a footnote:

\footnote{
\verb|http://www.bdbiosciences.com/|
}

but LaTeX objects:

! Missing } inserted.

\footnote{
\begin{verbatim}
http://www.bdbiosciences.com/
\end{verbatim}
}

! Argument of \@xverbatim has an extra }.

\protect in front of or inside the footnote doesn't help.

How can I do this?
