[texhax] metafont running problem

    Can someone tell me how/where best to do this?

I expect you're using teTeX or TeX Live.
Run mfw instead of mf.

Unfortunately, when I run mfw in TL 2003 (under GNU/Linux), the window
comes up, but the dot does not appear.  I hope it works for you.

For TL2004, plain "mf" will have the interactive features again,
or so I understand.  Hopefully they will even work :).
